Dailies

Dailies vs TactiqThe Tactiq alternative that records the call and cuts shorts from it

Tactiq and Dailies are both Chrome extensions, and neither sends a bot into your call. They sit in the same browser and do different things with what they hear. Tactiq writes the call down as it happens: a live transcript, then AI summaries and action items, and it states that it does not record or store the audio. Dailies records the call tab, your microphone and your webcam, and cuts captioned vertical shorts from the best passages. One leaves you a text, the other a video.

What Tactiq does

Tactiq is a Chrome extension that transcribes Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings live, without a bot joining them. The transcript appears during the call, with speakers identified, and is saved as text. From it, Tactiq writes AI summaries, action items and follow-up emails, answers your own questions about the meeting, and connects to Slack, Notion, Linear and HubSpot. You can also upload an audio or video file to have it transcribed. French is among its transcription languages on the three platforms, and its help centre lists French among the display languages of its web app and extension. Tactiq states that it does not record or store the audio of your meetings. It can post a short message in the meeting chat to tell attendees that it is transcribing, an option you turn on in its settings.

Where Dailies and Tactiq differ

Two Chrome extensions, one of which records

Both run in Chrome on the call you were going to hold, with no bot. Tactiq reads the conversation and saves it as text; it states that it does not record or store the audio. Dailies records three things: the call tab, your microphone and your webcam, the webcam on a track of its own.

A transcript cannot be cut into a short

A short is made of footage, and Tactiq keeps none: its transcript is produced in real time and saved as text. No clip can come out of a call that went through Tactiq alone. Dailies picks up to eight passages in its recording, removes silences, filler words and false starts, reframes on whoever speaks and burns in animated captions, in one of fifteen styles.

Everything written is on Tactiq’s side

A transcript you can read during the call, summaries, action items, follow-up emails, answers to your own questions, and connections to Slack, Notion, Linear or HubSpot. It also transcribes an audio or video file you upload. Dailies writes no meeting notes, summaries or action items and does not edit a video you upload: it only makes shorts from the calls it recorded.

French on both sides

Tactiq transcribes French on Google Meet, Teams and Zoom, and can display its web app and its extension in French. Dailies handles calls in French, in English and in both mixed, and its extension’s interface is in French. On language the two are close. They differ in what they produce.

Questions people ask

Does Tactiq record the audio or video of a meeting?

No. Tactiq states that it does not record or store the audio from your meetings: the transcript is produced in real time and saved as text. What it keeps is that text, not a recording.

Can Tactiq make video clips or shorts?

No. Tactiq saves a transcript, not a recording, so there is no footage to cut a clip from. Dailies records the call in Chrome and delivers up to eight captioned vertical shorts a few minutes after it ends.

Are Tactiq and Dailies both Chrome extensions without a bot?

Yes. Both work from your browser and neither sends a bot into the call. Tactiq can post a message in the meeting chat to tell attendees it is transcribing, if you turn that option on.

Does Dailies replace Tactiq?

Not for transcripts and notes. Dailies writes no meeting notes, summaries or action items: it makes shorts, and only from the calls it records. A written record of a meeting is what Tactiq is built for. Video to post is what Dailies is built for.

Does Tactiq work in French?

Yes. French is listed among its transcription languages for Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and its help centre lists French among the display languages of its web app and extension. Dailies handles calls in French, in English and in both mixed, with an interface in French.

Your next call already holds your next shorts.

Add Dailies to Chrome, record the call you were going to have anyway, and watch its shorts a few minutes after you hang up.
