Dailies

Dailies vs Notion AI Meeting NotesThe Notion AI Meeting Notes alternative for people who want video shorts, not a page of notes

Notion AI Meeting Notes and Dailies both capture a call from your own computer. What they keep has little in common. Notion listens: it transcribes the sound of the meeting and writes a summary with action items in a Notion page. Dailies keeps the picture too: it records the call tab, your microphone and your webcam in Chrome, and delivers captioned vertical shorts cut from the best passages. Notes for your workspace on one side, video for your feed on the other.

What Notion AI Meeting Notes does

AI Meeting Notes is a feature of Notion. It transcribes a meeting from your device’s audio and writes a summary, with action items and participants, straight into a Notion page; the notes can be sent to Slack or by email, and Notion’s agent can take on the follow-up work. In the Notion desktop app (macOS 13 or later, Windows), it captures both your microphone and your system audio, and its product page says it supports every video tool. In a browser, only the microphone is transcribed, and on mobile only what the phone’s microphone picks up. The audio serves the transcription: the local copy is deleted after processing or within 24 hours, though a recent audio file can stay on the recorder’s device. Starting a transcription means confirming that everyone in the meeting agreed to be recorded and transcribed, and an optional consent message can be played in the meeting’s language. It transcribes sixteen languages, French included, and requires Notion’s Business or Enterprise plan.

Where Dailies and Notion AI Meeting Notes differ

Notion keeps the sound, Dailies keeps the picture

AI Meeting Notes works from audio: your microphone and, in the desktop app, your system audio. That audio is there to be transcribed, and no video comes with it, so there is nothing to cut a clip from. Dailies records the call tab, your microphone and your webcam, the webcam on a track of its own, so each passage it keeps shows whoever speaks, reframed for a phone and captioned.

A page in your workspace, or shorts for your feed

Notion’s output is a page: transcript, summary, action items, participants, which you can send to Slack or by email and hand to Notion’s agent. It serves the people who work on what the meeting decided. Dailies’ output is up to eight vertical shorts per call, each with a line above it, animated captions burned in, and the silences, filler words and false starts cut out. It serves people who were never in the call.

Where each one runs

Notion captures the whole meeting’s sound from its desktop app, on Mac or Windows; in a browser, it transcribes your microphone only. Dailies is a Chrome extension and records the calls you hold in Chrome: Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom’s web client. Both capture from your own computer rather than through a bot in the call.

Questions people ask

Does Notion AI Meeting Notes record video?

No video recording appears on the pages we read: the feature works from audio, your microphone and, in the desktop app, your system audio, and uses it to transcribe the meeting. Its output is a Notion page with the transcript, a summary and action items. Dailies records the call’s picture and your webcam, and makes shorts from them.

Does a bot join the call with Notion AI Meeting Notes?

Its pages mention no bot: the feature captures your device’s audio, through the Notion desktop app for the whole meeting’s sound, or your microphone alone in a browser. Dailies sends no bot either: it records from a Chrome extension.

Does Notion AI Meeting Notes work in French?

Yes. French is one of the sixteen transcription languages Notion lists, and its product page exists in French. Dailies handles calls in French, in English and in both mixed, and its extension’s interface is in French.

Can Dailies replace Notion AI Meeting Notes?

No. Dailies writes no meeting notes, summaries or action items: it makes shorts. Notes for a workspace and video to post are two different jobs, and each of these tools does only one of them.

Your next call already holds your next shorts.

Add Dailies to Chrome, record the call you were going to have anyway, and watch its shorts a few minutes after you hang up.
