Dailies

Dailies vs NottaThe Notta alternative when you want your calls as shorts to post, not as searchable text

Notta and Dailies can both record the same call, and what they hand back has little in common. Notta turns a meeting, an interview or a lecture into searchable text: a transcript, a summary, action items, and documents made from them. Dailies turns a call into video to post: up to eight captioned vertical shorts, cut from the passages it picks. Notta also gives you more ways in: a bot, a desktop app, a Chrome extension, an uploaded file. Dailies has one, a Chrome extension that records the call tab, your microphone and your webcam. If you want the words, Notta is built for that. If you want clips, we found none on its pages.

  • You want shorts to post, cut and captioned without opening a video editor.
  • You want the picture of the call recorded from your own browser, with no bot.
  • Your client calls already hold your best advice, and you would rather not film yourself.

For people who want transcripts, summaries and documents from many meetings, in many languages, through a bot, a desktop app or an uploaded file.

  • You want a transcript, a summary and action items of every meeting.
  • Your meetings are held in many languages, or need translating.
  • You also have files, YouTube links or in-person conversations to transcribe.
  • You want slides, infographics or follow-up emails generated from a meeting.

What Notta does

Notta is an AI meeting note-taker that turns meetings, interviews and lectures into searchable text and visuals. Notta Bot joins Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or Webex meetings from the meeting link, once the host lets it in, and can record the video. Notta Desktop, in beta on Mac and Windows, records without a bot from your device, your microphone and your computer’s audio, in audio only. A Chrome extension transcribes the audio of a tab, an online recorder films your screen, your camera or both, and you can upload audio or video files or paste a YouTube link. From these, Notta produces transcripts, summaries, action items, answers across meetings and translation; Notta Brain generates infographics, slides and follow-up emails. Its help centre lists 58 transcription languages, French included. Showcase dubs an uploaded video into another language. Its player can skip silences during playback. We found no feature for cutting clips on its pages or in its help centre.

Where Dailies and Notta differ

With Notta, video comes through the bot

Notta records without a bot through Notta Desktop, which captures your microphone and your computer’s audio and no picture; its own page points to the bot when you need the meeting’s video. Dailies has no bot and records the picture all the same, from a Chrome extension: the call tab, your microphone and your webcam, the webcam on a track of its own.

Text to search, or shorts to post

Everything Notta makes from a meeting is meant to be read or reused at work: transcript, summary, action items, slides, an infographic, a follow-up email. We found no clip, highlight reel or vertical video on its pages, and a search of its help centre returned no article about cutting clips. Recordings are shared whole, by link or by email invitation. Dailies makes only shorts: vertical 9:16, reframed on whoever speaks, with animated captions burned in.

Silences skipped, or silences cut

Notta’s player offers to skip silences, next to playback speed and noise cancellation: it changes how you listen to a recording. Nothing on the pages we read says that silences or filler words are removed from a video you export. Dailies cuts silences, filler words and false starts out of the short itself, so what you post is already tightened.

What Notta does that Dailies does not

Notta writes transcripts, summaries and action items, translates in real time, transcribes 58 languages, takes uploaded files and YouTube links, dubs a video into another language, and has a hardware recorder, Notta Memo, for conversations in person. Dailies does none of that. It handles calls in French, in English and in both mixed, records only the calls you hold in Chrome, and writes no meeting notes.

Questions people ask

Can Notta make video clips or shorts of a meeting?

We found no such feature. Notta’s pages describe transcripts, summaries and documents, and a search of its help centre returned no article about cutting clips. That is an absence in what we read, not a statement by Notta. Dailies delivers up to eight captioned vertical shorts a few minutes after the call.

Does Notta record meetings without a bot?

Yes, in audio. Notta Desktop, in beta on Mac and Windows, records your microphone and your computer’s audio from your device, with no bot in the meeting. For the meeting’s video, its own page points to Notta Bot, which joins the call. Its Chrome extension transcribes the audio of a tab.

Does Dailies replace Notta?

Not for text. Dailies writes no meeting notes, summaries or action items, and it does not work on a file you upload. It records the calls you hold in Chrome and makes shorts from them. A written record and content to post are two different jobs.

Does Notta work for calls in French?

Yes. French is one of the 58 languages its help centre lists for transcription, and Notta offers bilingual transcription for 23 language pairs. Dailies handles calls in French, in English and in both mixed, and its extension’s interface is in French.

Your next call already holds your next shorts.

Add Dailies to Chrome, record the call you were going to have anyway, and watch its shorts a few minutes after you hang up.
