Dailies vs LaxisThe Laxis alternative for people who want shorts of their calls rather than notes on them
Laxis and Dailies can both capture a call from your own computer, with no bot in the meeting. Laxis does it to write: real-time transcription, AI notes, action items and decisions, for online meetings, phone calls and conversations held in person. Dailies does it to show: a Chrome extension records the call tab, your microphone and your webcam, and cuts captioned vertical shorts from the best passages. One gives you notes on every conversation, the other gives you something to post from your calls.

What Laxis does
Laxis, by Laxis, Inc., is an AI note taker for online meetings, phone calls and in-person conversations, sold alongside an AI voice keyboard for dictation, AI earbuds, recording devices and a meeting camera. Its site describes three ways to capture a meeting: your computer’s system audio, an AI assistant bot that joins from your calendar, or a file you upload. By default, its desktop app captures audio directly from your device, with no bot in the meeting. It names Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and also Webex, Skype and Discord. Its product illustration shows a Video Replay panel, and the pages we read do not say which capture mode keeps video. Laxis writes a real-time transcript, AI notes, action items, decisions and reports, answers questions across your meeting history in a chat and syncs with HubSpot and Salesforce. It states that it supports more than 100 languages with automatic detection, French among those it names.
Where Dailies and Laxis differ
Audio for notes, picture for shorts
Laxis says that, by default, it captures audio directly from your device, and what it makes of it is written: a transcript, notes, action items. A Video Replay panel appears in its product illustration, but the pages we read do not say which capture mode keeps video, and a separate recording of your camera is not mentioned. Dailies records the call tab and, apart from it, your microphone and your webcam, so each short can show you when you speak and your guest’s tile, cropped on their face, when they do.
Notes on every conversation, or shorts from your calls
Laxis follows you across online meetings, phone calls and in-person conversations, and adds dictation and recording hardware. We found no clip, snippet or highlight feature on the pages we read. Dailies covers far less ground and does one thing with it: from each call you hold in Chrome, it picks up to eight passages and delivers them as vertical 9:16 shorts, with animated captions burned in and silences, filler words and false starts removed.
A desktop app, or a Chrome extension
Both can record with no bot in the call. Laxis does it from a desktop app that captures your device’s audio, and also offers a bot that joins from your calendar. Dailies does it from a Chrome extension, on Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom’s web client.
The rest of what Laxis offers
Notes, action items and decisions after each conversation, a chat over your whole meeting history, HubSpot and Salesforce sync, phone calls and in-person conversations, dictation, files you upload. Dailies leaves all of it aside. It writes no meeting notes, summaries or action items, works only on the calls it records, and hands back video: shorts you download in Full HD and post yourself.
Questions people ask
Can Laxis make clips or shorts from a meeting?
We found no clip, snippet or highlight feature on the Laxis pages we read. Laxis describes real-time transcription, AI notes, action items, decisions and reports. Dailies cuts up to eight captioned vertical shorts from each call it records.
Does Laxis record the video of a call?
The pages we read do not say. Laxis states that, by default, it captures audio directly from your device. Its product illustration shows a Video Replay panel, without saying which of its capture modes keeps video. Dailies records the call tab and your webcam, the webcam on a track of its own.
Does a bot join the call with Laxis or with Dailies?
Not by default with Laxis: its desktop app captures audio from your device, and an AI assistant bot that joins from your calendar is another option. Never with Dailies, which records from a Chrome extension.
Does Dailies replace Laxis?
No. Dailies writes no notes, action items or reports, and does not cover phone calls or in-person conversations. It records the calls you hold in Chrome and turns them into shorts to post.
Does Laxis work in French?
Yes for transcription: Laxis states that it supports more than 100 languages with automatic language detection, and names French among them. Its site is in English on the pages we read. Dailies handles calls in French, in English and in both mixed, and its extension’s interface is in French.
Your next call already holds your next shorts.
Add Dailies to Chrome, record the call you were going to have anyway, and watch its shorts a few minutes after you hang up.
