Dailies vs Microsoft Teams CopilotThe Microsoft Teams Copilot alternative for shorts you post, not a recap you watch in Teams
Microsoft Teams Copilot and Dailies both turn a call into something shorter. Copilot and intelligent recap make a Teams meeting quick to catch up on: a summary, AI notes, tasks, chapters, and a narrated video recap with short clips of its important moments, watched inside Teams. Dailies makes a call worth posting: it records it in Chrome and delivers captioned vertical shorts that you download. The first serves the people of the meeting. The second serves an audience that was not in it.

What Microsoft Teams Copilot does
Copilot is the AI built into Microsoft Teams. During a meeting, it summarises the key points, including who said what, suggests action items and answers your questions. After the meeting, intelligent recap gathers the recording, the transcript, AI meeting notes, AI recommended tasks, chapters and topics, speaker timeline markers and the mentions of your name; an audio recap is in public preview. Its video recap is a narrated summary with short video clips that highlight important moments: the meeting must last at least ten minutes and be recorded and transcribed, and the recap is watched in the Teams desktop and mobile apps. Teams makes the recording itself (audio, video and screen sharing, stored in OneDrive or SharePoint) and notifies every participant as soon as it starts. All of this works on Teams meetings, events and calls and requires a Teams Premium or Microsoft Copilot licence. Intelligent recap supports French.
Where Dailies and Microsoft Teams Copilot differ
A recap to watch in Teams, or a short to post
Teams’ video recap is automatic: a narrated summary with short clips of the meeting’s important moments, made for catching up and watched in the Teams desktop and mobile apps. The pages we read mention no vertical 9:16 format, no burned-in captions and no export for social networks. A Dailies short is a file you download in Full HD: vertical, reframed on whoever speaks, captioned, with the silences, filler words and false starts cut out, for LinkedIn, TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
Teams only, or Teams, Meet and Zoom
Copilot and intelligent recap work on Teams meetings, events and calls; the recap needs the meeting to be transcribed, and recorded for the full experience. When a client invites you on Google Meet or Zoom, they are not part of that call. Dailies records in Chrome, so the same extension follows you on Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Zoom’s web client.
Who sets each one up
Copilot in Teams needs a Teams Premium or Microsoft Copilot licence, assigned to each user by their organisation. Dailies is an extension that one person adds to Chrome: it records the call tab, your microphone and your webcam, with no bot in the call.
What Teams Copilot does that Dailies does not
It summarises who said what, suggests action items, answers your questions about the meeting, during it and afterwards, and splits the recording into chapters and topics. Dailies writes no meeting notes, no summary and no action items, and makes shorts only from the calls it recorded.
Questions people ask
Can Microsoft Teams Copilot make video clips of a meeting?
Yes, in one form: video recap, a narrated summary with short video clips that highlight a meeting’s important moments. Teams builds it automatically for meetings of at least ten minutes that were recorded and transcribed, and it is watched in the Teams desktop and mobile apps. The pages we read mention no vertical format, no burned-in captions and no export for social networks.
Can I post a Teams video recap on LinkedIn or TikTok?
Microsoft’s pages describe the video recap as something watched in the Teams desktop and mobile apps, and we found no export for social networks on the pages we read. Dailies is made for that use: each short is a vertical, captioned Full HD file that you download and post yourself.
Does Copilot in Teams work on Google Meet or Zoom calls?
No: the Copilot and recap features described here are part of Microsoft Teams, and work on Teams meetings, events and calls. Dailies records the calls you hold in Chrome on Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Zoom’s web client.
Does Dailies replace Copilot in Teams?
Not for recaps. Dailies writes no summary, notes or action items. It records the call and cuts up to eight captioned vertical shorts from it. A recap for the people of the meeting and shorts for an audience are two different jobs.
Your next call already holds your next shorts.
Add Dailies to Chrome, record the call you were going to have anyway, and watch its shorts a few minutes after you hang up.
