Dailies vs CirclebackThe Circleback alternative when the clip is meant for your audience
Circleback and Dailies can both record a call from your computer without a bot, video included. What they do with the recording differs. Circleback writes notes, assigns action items, and lets you replay the recording, link to a moment or make a clip of it. Dailies does one thing with its recording: it picks the best passages itself and delivers them as captioned vertical shorts, a few minutes after the call. One is built around the follow-up of a meeting, the other around what you post.

What Circleback does
Circleback is an AI meeting note-taker with several ways in. Its desktop app for macOS and Windows records meetings on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or any other platform without a bot, from your microphone and your computer’s audio. It can also join Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex meetings as a bot participant, record through its mobile app, or take an audio or video file you upload. On desktop it records audio and can record the video of the meeting window, an option you can turn off so that only audio is captured. Recordings can be kept with the meeting, replayed beside the transcript and downloaded, and you can link to a moment or make a clip. Circleback writes notes, action items assigned to people and a transcript with speakers named, answers questions across your meetings, and runs automations into Slack, Notion, Linear, HubSpot, Salesforce, Asana and others. It states support for more than 100 meeting languages.
Where Dailies and Circleback differ
A clip of a recording, or a short for a feed
Circleback says of a saved recording that you can play it beside the transcript, download it, link to a moment or make a clip. The pages we read do not describe how a clip is made or what format it has, and mention no vertical 9:16 format, burned-in captions or social networks. Dailies’ shorts are made for a feed: vertical 9:16, reframed on whoever speaks, with animated captions burned in and silences, filler words and false starts removed.
Who picks the passage
Dailies picks up to eight passages per call by itself and puts a line above each short, the question it answers. We found no description of an automatic selection of passages on the Circleback pages we read: its clip is presented among the things you can do with a recording.
What the camera sees
On desktop, Circleback’s video is the meeting window, and a separate recording of your own camera is not mentioned on the pages we read. Dailies records the call tab and, on a track of its own, your webcam. A short shows you while you speak and your guest’s tile, cropped on their face, when they do, and the room behind you can be blurred or replaced.
What Circleback does that Dailies does not
Notes, action items assigned to the right person, search and questions across all your meetings, automations into Slack, Notion, HubSpot or Salesforce, a bot when you prefer one, a mobile app, files you upload. Dailies writes no meeting notes, summaries or action items, records only the calls you hold in Chrome on Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and does not edit a video you upload.
Questions people ask
Can Circleback make clips from a meeting recording?
Yes. Circleback states that a saved recording can be played beside the transcript, downloaded, linked to at a given moment, or made into a clip. The pages we read do not describe the clip’s format, and mention no vertical 9:16 version, burned-in captions or posting to social networks.
Does Circleback record without a bot?
Yes, with its desktop app for macOS and Windows, which captures your microphone and your computer’s audio and can record the meeting window’s video. Circleback can also join a meeting as a bot participant on Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Webex. Dailies records from a Chrome extension, with no bot.
Does Dailies replace Circleback?
No, not if you rely on its notes. Dailies writes no meeting notes, summaries or action items. It turns the calls you hold in Chrome into captioned vertical shorts. The two answer different needs: following up on a meeting, and posting from it.
Does Circleback handle meetings in French?
Circleback states that it supports more than 100 meeting languages, with a separate output language for the notes. French is not named on the pages we read, so the table marks it as not stated. Dailies handles calls in French, in English and in both mixed, and its extension’s interface is in French.
Your next call already holds your next shorts.
Add Dailies to Chrome, record the call you were going to have anyway, and watch its shorts a few minutes after you hang up.
