Dailies

Dailies vs Read AIThe Read AI alternative for content from your calls, not a recap of them

Read AI already edits video on its own: it turns a two-hour meeting into a two-minute highlight reel, and into a 30-second trailer. The purpose is catching up. The reel skips through topics, key questions and action items, for those who attended the meeting and those who missed it. Dailies edits for strangers. From the same call it cuts up to eight separate shorts, vertical, captioned, each answering one question, made to be posted. Both pick the moments without you; they do not pick them for the same viewer.

What Read AI does

Read AI is a meeting assistant. Its bot joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet meetings when you add it or turn on auto-join, and captures audio and video; it shows as a participant or as a Read logo in a corner of the meeting window. A desktop app for Windows and Mac records audio from your computer, which also covers other platforms such as Webex or Slack huddles; Read AI states that desktop recordings capture audio only. It also has a browser extension, a mobile app and an upload of MP4 or M4A files. Its report holds a transcript, a summary, action items, key questions and topics, with meeting metrics and coaching, and Ask Read answers questions across meetings. Its video playback includes a highlight reel that skips through the key parts of the meeting, and a 30-second trailer. French is among its supported languages; it detects the meeting’s main language and states that meetings where several languages are spoken are not fully supported.

Where Dailies and Read AI differ

One reel of the meeting, or eight shorts out of it

Read AI’s highlight reel compresses the meeting: it skips through its topics, key questions, action items and reactions, so that someone can catch up in two minutes. It is shared through the meeting report. A Dailies short does the opposite of summarising: it isolates one passage that stands alone, puts the question it answers above it, and leaves the rest of the call out. Up to eight per call, each one a file to download.

Made for the report, or made for the feed

On the Read AI pages we read, we found no mention of downloading the highlights, of a vertical format, of captions burned into the picture, of reframing on the speaker or of removing silences. Dailies delivers 9:16 shorts in Full HD, full screen on whoever speaks, with animated captions in fifteen styles, and without the silences, filler words and false starts.

Picture and languages

Read AI captures video when its bot joins the meeting; by its own account, its desktop app records audio only. It detects one main language per meeting and states that meetings mixing several languages may give inconsistent results. Dailies records the call tab, your microphone and your webcam from Chrome, and handles calls in French, in English and in both mixed. No bot joins the call.

What Read AI covers and Dailies leaves alone

A report after each meeting, with a summary, action items, key questions and topics; metrics and coaching; questions asked across all your meetings; the audio of calls held on other platforms; MP4 or M4A files you upload. Dailies does none of this: it writes no minutes and only handles the calls it recorded in Chrome.

Questions people ask

Does Read AI create video highlights of a meeting?

Yes, as a reel. Read AI converts a two-hour meeting into a two-minute highlight reel that skips through its key parts (topics, key questions, action items, reactions), and offers a 30-second trailer. The video comes from the meetings its bot joins; its desktop app records audio only.

Can I post Read AI’s highlight reel on social networks?

Read AI presents the reel as a way to share a meeting’s highlights with those who could not attend, through the meeting report. On the pages we read, we found no mention of downloading it, of a vertical format or of burned-in captions. Dailies delivers vertical, captioned shorts that you download in Full HD and post yourself.

Does Read AI record video without its bot?

Not with its desktop app. Read AI states that desktop recordings capture audio only, while the bot can capture video too. Dailies records picture and sound from a Chrome extension, with no bot.

Does Read AI handle meetings that mix French and English?

French is among the languages it supports. Read AI detects the meeting’s main language automatically, and states that meetings where several different languages are spoken are not fully supported and may produce inconsistent results. Dailies handles calls in French, in English and in both mixed.

Does Dailies replace Read AI?

No. Dailies writes no summary and no action items, measures nothing about your meetings and does not recap them: it cuts shorts to post. Catching up on a meeting is Read AI’s job; making content out of one is Dailies’.

Your next call already holds your next shorts.

Add Dailies to Chrome, record the call you were going to have anyway, and watch its shorts a few minutes after you hang up.
