Dailies

Dailies vs DemioThe Demio alternative for people who want shorts from client calls rather than a webinar replay

Demio and Dailies both record a conversation in the browser, for opposite uses. Demio is a webinar platform for marketers: you gather an audience in its own event room, live or around a pre-recorded session, and every live session is recorded as a replay. Dailies is no webinar platform. It is a Chrome extension that records the one-to-one calls you already hold on Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom, and delivers up to eight captioned vertical shorts a few minutes after each call. Demio keeps the whole session, to be watched again. Dailies keeps the best passages, cut to be posted.

What Demio does

Demio is a browser-based webinar platform for marketers, part of the Banzai family. It runs live, automated and on-demand webinars, with engagement tools and analytics that feed sales. The session takes place in Demio’s own event room. Its help centre says Demio records every live session automatically: the recording is composed in 1080p, in a layout matching what happened in the live event, and downloads as an MP4. On its Premium plan or higher, each recording gets a transcript that detects the language of the audio, can be edited line by line and downloads as a VTT file, and live closed captions are available. On the replay page, closed captions, in beta, are turned on by the viewer and can be translated automatically. A video can also be uploaded to run as an automated webinar. Demio AI is a chat moderator that answers the attendees of on-demand webinars. What attendees see exists in 21 languages, French among them.

Where Dailies and Demio differ

A room for an audience, or the call in your calendar

Demio records the webinars held in its own event room, which attendees join. On the pages we read, nothing describes recording a Google Meet, Teams or Zoom call. Dailies does only that: it records, in Chrome, the client call you were going to hold anyway, capturing the call tab, your microphone and your webcam. No bot joins the call.

A replay to watch, or shorts to post

What Demio keeps of a session is the session: one 1080p recording in the layout of the live event, on a replay page or as an MP4 download. We searched its help centre for clips and found no feature that cuts a recording into shorts. Dailies delivers up to eight vertical 9:16 shorts per call, from passages it picks itself, reframed on whoever speaks, with silences, filler words and false starts removed.

Captions the viewer turns on, or captions in the picture

Demio’s closed captions belong to its player: on the replay page, in beta, the viewer turns them on and can have them translated, and the transcript downloads as a VTT file. We found no burned-in or animated captions on the pages we read. Dailies burns animated captions into every short, in one of fifteen styles, so they travel with the video wherever you post it.

What Demio does that Dailies does not

Registration pages and reminders, a live event room, automated and on-demand webinars, attendee analytics, a chat moderator that answers attendees, a transcript of each session and a replay page. Dailies does none of that: it hosts no event and writes no notes, and it makes shorts only from the calls it records, which you download in Full HD and post yourself.

Questions people ask

Can Demio turn a webinar into clips or shorts?

We found no clip feature on the Demio pages we read. A search for clips in its help centre returns its OpenReel integration, which imports videos into an event, and no tool that cuts a recording. Demio delivers the whole session as a 1080p replay, downloadable as an MP4.

Does Demio record webinars automatically?

Yes. Its help centre says Demio automatically records each live session, in 1080p, in a layout matching the live event, and that the recording downloads as an MP4. On its Premium plan or higher, the recording also gets an editable transcript.

Can Demio record a Google Meet, Teams or Zoom call?

Recording a call held on another platform is not described on the Demio pages we read: Demio records the webinars held in its own event room. Dailies records the calls you hold in Chrome on Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and Zoom’s web client.

Is Dailies a Demio alternative for webinars?

No. Dailies is no webinar platform: it has no event room, no registration page and no replay to host. It makes shorts from the client calls you hold in Chrome. For a webinar with an audience, a platform such as Demio is the right kind of tool.

Your next call already holds your next shorts.

Add Dailies to Chrome, record the call you were going to have anyway, and watch its shorts a few minutes after you hang up.
